The Shepherd King
Topic: New Testament Scripture: Matthew 2:1–2:12
When we hear the word 'King' we usually attach to that the idea of a monarch who lives in a palace and, apart from the occasional public appearance, is quite removed from ordinary reality.
While modern royals complain about having to live much of their life in a fish-bowl, they do get to live in comparative luxury.
The prophecies concerning the Messiah include the idea that He would be a 'shepherd King' - someone who would truly care for His people, and someone who would ultimately die for them.
