What is Discipleship?
Jesus didn’t say “follow the rules”; He said, “Follow me.” (Matthew 4:19). Because of that, discipleship is about a relationship with Jesus that forms and shapes the heart. It’s how we walk with Him, become like Him, and help each other grow in the context of a Christ-centred community.
At DC, discipleship is about following Jesus together.
Slowly. Personally. In real life - especially in the ordinary moments of the week. That's where the gospel meets real transformation, and where we learn to love God and love one another (John 13:34–35).

How We Do Discipleship
Discipleship at DC is built on three pillars that shape the way we follow Jesus together:
1. Discipleship
Formal discipleship happens in small groups of 2–4 people, led by a Discipleship Leader.
Here, you read Scripture, pray, share honestly, and help one another follow Jesus from the heart. These groups are intentionally small because transformation happens best in close, trusted community.
Informal discipleship happens in the everyday moments - conversations, meals, prayer, encouragement, and spiritual friendship through the week. Discipleship is not an event; it’s a lifestyle.

2. Care
Jesus said the world will recognise His disciples by their love for one another (John 13:34–35).
Care is the inward life of discipleship - bearing burdens (Galatians 6:2), praying for each other (James 5:16), encouraging one another toward love and good works (Hebrews 10:24–25), and guarding each other’s hearts (Proverbs 4:23). Care is not a ministry team. It’s what disciples do.

3. Outreach
Every group is encouraged to look outward: to pray for the lost (Romans 10:1), invite others into community (Matthew 5:14–16), serve our city (Jeremiah 29:7), and share the hope we have in Christ (1 Peter 3:15). It’s not about programmes; it’s about people learning to reflect Jesus wherever He has placed them.
PEOPLE & PROCESS
Discipleship at DC is designed to be simple, relational, and supportive.
When you first join a discipleship group, we use a 7 week series called, "The Heart of Discipleship" to get to know each other. From there, most discipleship groups will follow along with discipleship content based on the current sermon series.
What do our discipleship groups look like?

Make, Mature and... Multiply
Discipleship at DC is designed to grow - not just in depth, but in reach. As groups mature in Christlikeness and occasionally grow in size, the healthiest next step is often to multiply, forming a new discipleship group led by a new discipleship leader.
