THE PRESENCE OF GOD LIKE THE SUN

“For the Lord God is a sun…” - Psalm 84:11a
“…he dawns on them like the morning light, like the sun shining forth on a cloudless morning” - 2 Samuel 23:4
“Make your face [presence/panim] shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love!” ” - Psalm 31:16
“Restore us, O God; let your face [presence/panim] shine, that we may be saved!” - Psalm 80:3
“O Lord, make your face [presence/panim] to shine upon your sanctuary” - Daniel 9:17
The Light of His Presence in Creation: "Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day. - Genesis 1:3-5. (The sun, moon and stars weren't created until Day 4!)

LEVITICUS STRUCTURE

JESUS & REFERENCES TO LIGHT / HOLINESS

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high… - Hebrews 1:3
The Word gave life to  everything that was created,  and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.… - John 1:4-5
Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. 2 As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light. - Matthew 17:1-2
By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. 45 The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle. 46 Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last. 47 When the Roman officer overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God… - Luke 23:44-47

WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. - 2 Corinthians 4:6

FUTURE HOPE

…his face was like the sun in all its brilliance.  - Revelation 1:16b
