OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Christmas Shoeboxes

Each year at Disciples Church we love to participate in the Samaritan's Purse initiative called "Operation Christmas Child."

This involves filling empty shoe boxes with gifts for children in nearby developing countries. The shoeboxes are given out to children at Christmas time via a local church. The kids and their families are also offered the opportunity to participate in a short course where they can learn about the Good News of Jesus.

When you take an empty shoebox you have to decide if you want it to go to a boy or girl, and what age range would be suitable. You then buy gifts that would suit that child. Then you go online (see the Samaritan's Purse link below) to donate $12.50 to cover the freight of the shoebox, and another $10 to cover the discipleship course. You can then print a label to put on your box, before bringing it back to the DC Building by Sunday October 29.

The shoeboxes are collected at this time of year so they can be shipped overseas in time for Christmas.

We usually send over 100 boxes each year. How many can we do this year?
