Across the life of the whole church we have developed a certain rhythm for how and when things happen.
Here's a rundown of some regular happenings within the life of Disciples Church Springfield, in alphabetical order.
Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting is usually held on a Monday night during the month of March.
Anniversary Sunday
We celebrate the anniversary of the first public worship services of Disciples Church Springfield on the third Sunday in May.
Baby Dedications
We usually set aside two or three Sundays each year when we do baby dedications during our Sunday services. Check the events section of the App for the next date, and speak to a pastor if you would like to have a child dedicated.
Baptisms
Baptisms are hosted by an individual Missional Community Group and are held as required. We always video our baptisms and replay them during one of our services following the baptism.
Biblical Conferences
Each year we run a Biblical Marriage conference in February, a Biblical Womanhood conference in May, a Biblical Manhood conference in August, and a Biblical Parenting conference in November. Check the events section of the App for the exact dates of the upcoming conferences.
ChildSafe Training
Each year in the month of May our childrens and youth ministry team members attend compulsory ChildSafe training.
Christmas Carols
Disciples Church joins with other churches in Springfield to present a community carols event at Robelle Domain on the second Saturday in December.
Christmas Eve Service
Our tradition at Disciples Church has been to celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus at a special service on Christmas Eve. We do not conduct a service on Christmas Day.
Church Planting
We are a member of the Acts 29 Church Planting Network. Acts 29 hosts a church planting conference in February each year that is open to anyone to attend.
Denomination
Our denomination, the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches, holds its annual conference and meeting in the month of September.
Elder Meetings
The Elder Board meets on the second Tuesday of the month (except January) and the Elder Council meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month for prayer (except December).
Good Friday
We remember the death of our Lord Jesus at a special evangelistic service on Good Friday morning.
Leaders Retreat
We conduct an annual Leaders Retreat during the month of August. This involves our Elders, Missional Community Group leaders, staff, and emerging leaders.
MCG Leaders Meetings
Our Missional Community Group leaders met once a quarter for training, equipping and prayer.
Prayer Days
Each year we conduct a number of Prayer Days where we ask everyone in the church to spend one hour of the day in prayer. We end the day with a time of Prayer & Praise at the DC Building.
Staff Meetings
Our staff meet up on the first Saturday of the month.
The Lord's Supper
We share The Lord's Supper at all services on the first Sunday of every month.
Youth Summer Camp
Each January during the school holidays we run a youth camp at the Sunshine Coast to present the Gospel to high schoolers.
