Welcome
Welcome to our third Day of Prayer for 2025.
Before you read on, you are welcome to choose one of these instrumental playlists (Apple: Ambient / Piano or Spotify Ambient / Piano) to put on in the background while you read this page to help you focus on worshipping God through prayer.
You are about to walk through 7 prayers from Scripture.
1. David's Prayer
2. Hannah's Prayer
3. Moses' Prayer
4. Daniel's Prayer
5. Paul's Prayer
6. John's Prayer
7. Jesus' Prayer
Each segment only take 5 minutes each and has a specific focus. If you pray for another few minutes in each segment, you will easily fill an hour of prayer.
Don't feel bad if you have to slow down, speed up or take a break, however, you will get the most out of the time if it is done in one go.
This time is for you to commune with God, so take a deep breath, relax and follow the prompts. Let this scripture be an encouragement to you as you begin.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4: 6 - 7

ABOUT DAVID'S PRAYER
David’s prayer is striking because it is not centred on his needs or victories but on God Himself. His greatest desire is to dwell in God’s presence, to gaze on His beauty, and to seek Him above all else. Prayer begins here - with adoration that lifts our eyes to who God is, not simply what He can give.
POINTING TO JESUS
David longed for the temple, but Jesus is the true temple, God’s presence in human form. In Christ we have full access to the Father. Jesus gives us not just a glimpse but the reality of God’s beauty and glory, and by His Spirit He makes our hearts His dwelling place.
PRAY
You are beautiful and glorious.
You invite me into Your presence through Christ.
Stir my heart to desire You above all else.
May our worship at DC be centred on Your glory, not on our preferences.
Help those I love to see Your worth and be drawn into Your presence.
Renew Your church across the nations with a fresh vision of Your beauty.

ABOUT HANNAH’S PRAYER
Hannah prayed out of deep longing and anguish, but when God answered, her first response was not focused on the gift she had received but on the Giver Himself. Her heart overflowed in thanksgiving, delighting in God’s salvation and holiness. This prayer teaches us that gratitude and joy in God’s character should shape our prayers as much as our needs.
POINTING TO JESUS
Hannah rejoiced that God had given her a son, yet her prayer pointed forward to a greater salvation through another Son who would come. In Jesus, we see the fullness of God’s holiness and the true Rock who saves us completely.
PRAY…
You are holy, and there is none like You.
You have given me salvation and made Christ my Rock.
Teach me to thank You even before I see answers to my prayers.
Fill DC with joy and gratitude for Your salvation, not just for our circumstances.
Help my family and friends to see Your goodness and rejoice in You.
Cause Your global church to be marked by thanksgiving and joy in every nation.

3. Moses' Prayer
“But Moses implored the Lord his God and said, ‘O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? … Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people.’”
Exodus 32:11-14
Exodus 32:11-14
ABOUT MOSES’ PRAYER
After Israel’s sin with the golden calf, Moses stood in the gap for the people. He appealed not to their worthiness but to God’s promises, God’s reputation among the nations, and God’s covenant love. His prayer shows us what true intercession looks like - pleading for others on the basis of God’s mercy, not human merit.
POINTING TO JESUS
Moses begged God to spare the people, but Jesus went further - He bore the judgment Himself so that we might be spared. Moses pleaded for mercy; Jesus secured mercy at the cost of His own life. He is the greater Intercessor who ever lives to pray for us.
PRAY…
You are merciful and faithful to Your promises.
You have spared me through Christ, who took my judgment on Himself.
Make me someone who intercedes for others with compassion and faith.
Use DC to be a community that prays for Springfield with persistence and hope.
Bring repentance and mercy to my family and friends who are far from You.
Strengthen Your global church to stand in the gap for a world in need of Your mercy.

4. Daniel's Prayer
“I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying, ‘O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules… O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations… For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.’”
Daniel 9:4-5,18-19
Daniel 9:4-5,18-19
ABOUT DANIEL’S PRAYER
Daniel confessed not only his own sins but also the sins of his people. He recognised God’s holiness and justice, acknowledging that their exile was deserved. Yet he boldly appealed to God’s mercy and His concern for His own name. Daniel teaches us that confession is honest about sin but rooted in confidence that God is merciful and faithful to His covenant.
POINTING TO JESUS
Daniel prayed for forgiveness, but Jesus brings forgiveness in full. At the cross, Jesus bore the sins of His people once and for all. Now He is the reason we can confess freely, without fear, knowing mercy is already secured in Him.
PRAY…
You are great and awesome, keeping covenant and steadfast love.
You have shown mercy through Jesus, who bore my sin and secured my forgiveness.
Give me humility to confess my sins honestly and to turn back quickly to You.
Lead DC into a deeper posture of repentance, so we remain soft-hearted and faithful.
Draw my family and friends away from sin and into the mercy of Christ.
Bring revival to Your church worldwide through renewed repentance and reliance on Jesus.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-29
"He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint."

Romans 8:38-39
...Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:12
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Watching is a time of spiritual observation. To be on the lookout. To be spiritually aware of matters to pray for around you.
During this segment, pray and ask for insight and discernment to know what to focus upon and what your priority should be. Be aware of issues and injustices around you and be on alert to any prompting from the Lord.
Should you need some guidance, here is a brief list you could choose one or two items from to work through:

Should you need some guidance, here is a brief list you could choose one or two items from to work through:
- Discernment of Needs – Pray for spiritual discernment to recognise the needs within your family, MCG, wider-DC community, and not-yet-believers at home, uni or work.
- Injustices – Ask God to open your eyes to the injustices in Springfield, and in Australia, and for wisdom in how to respond.
- Personal Reflection – Seek the Lord’s guidance on areas in your life that need spiritual alignment or renewal.
- Opportunities to Serve – Pray to be alert to opportunities where you can serve others and share the gospel.
- God’s Leading – Ask for clarity in what the Holy Spirit may be prompting you to focus on, whether in prayer or action.
- Church Direction – Pray for the church’s leadership to have wisdom and to be aware of God’s vision and direction, especially in discipleship and outreach efforts.
- Cultural Issues – Be mindful of cultural shifts and societal pressures, asking for wisdom to engage these issues biblically and lovingly.
- Global Awareness – Be watchful for international issues and persecuted Christians around the world. Ask for God’s intervention and justice, and the strengthening of those believers who are persecuted.
Intercession is the action of intervening on behalf of another. To pray and focus on the needs and distress of others.
If you are able, stand up as a representation of standing on behalf of others. Then use this time to pray for a friend, a team mate, a family member, that God's will would be done in their life as it is in heaven. Pray that their physical and spiritual needs would be met and ask for God's provision, mercy and grace in their lives.

Petitions are requests made to God in prayer. During this segment, come to God in faith as a son or daughter in total dependence, asking him to provide and intervene.
Bring your desires and needs before your loving Father, knowing that he is listening.
For DC, lift up those who are suffering from physical pain, asking for healing and strength. Pray for God’s comfort and His presence to be with them in their suffering.
Ask God to bring more not-yet-believers to faith through DC.
Also, bring before the Lord the large number of children that are a part of the DC family. Pray that discipleship in the homes would be effective, supported by what they are learning in DC Kids, and that they would accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

Thanksgiving is acknowledging our appreciation to the Lord for who he is and what he is doing in our lives, no matter the circumstances. (1 Thessalonians 5:18.) During this segment, think about and thank God for his care and provision for you and for others.
Thank the Lord for the blessings he has given, and the hardships he has allowed.
Praise God for His sovereignty, acknowledging His goodness in all things, and thanking Him for the next chapter that he has brought the church into.
Thank God for so many baptisms this year at DC!
Thank God for your MCG leaders, staff, and volunteers who continually serve and sacrifice for the church. Thank God for their hearts to put the kingdom first.

9. Song
Oh sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Sing to the LORD, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above all gods.
Psalm 96:1-4

SONG: HOW MARVELLOUS
I stand amazed in the presence
Of Jesus the Nazarene
And wonder how He could love me
A sinner condemned, unclean
How marvellous, how wonderful
And my song will ever be
How marvellous, how wonderful
Is my Saviour's love for me
He took my sins and my sorrows
He made them his very own
He bore the burden to Calvary
He suffered and died for me
Oh, how marvellous, how wonderful
And my song shall ever be
How marvellous, how wonderful
Is my Saviour's love for me
When with ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see
It will be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me
How marvellous, how wonderful
And my song shall ever be
How marvellous, how wonderful
Is my Saviour's love for me

Meditation means to reflect upon, or examine a matter more closely and to evaluate it spiritually.
During this segment of prayer, think specifically about all aspects of your life. Do they line up with the counsel of the world, or with the law of the Lord?
Ask God to reveal the things that might be hidden in your life that are in the counsel of the wicked and ask him to replace it with a delight for him.
For DC, ask that God would reveal more of Christ and deepen the congregation’s understanding of Scripture through the Genesis series.

Listening is a period of silence where you discern what the Lord may be telling you.
During this segment of prayer, ask God to speak to you, then still your mind and heart. Do not be hasty to think about anything, but rather, focus on hearing from him.

SONG: COME THOU FOUNT
Come Thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love
Here I raise my Ebenezer
Here by Thy great help I've come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood
Oh, that day when freed from sinning
I shall see Thy lovely face
Clothed then in blood washed linen
How I'll sing Thy sovereign grace
Come my Lord, no longer tarry
Take my ransomed soul away
Send Thine angels now to carry
Me to realms of endless days
Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, oh take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
Here's my heart
Oh take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
