Welcome
Welcome to our Day of Prayer.
Before you begin, open your Bible to the Psalms.
You are welcome to put on some background music to help you concentrate and take on a posture of worship. This instrumental album from Dan Musselman is a good place to start, but these are good too; Apple: Ambient / Piano or Spotify Ambient / Piano.
Today, we’re letting the Psalms lead our prayers. The Psalms are the prayer book of the Bible - given to shape our hearts, not just our words. They teach us that prayer is honest before it is polished, and that God invites us to bring our whole selves to him, not a filtered version.
1. Psalm 1 – The Way to Life
2. Psalm 2 – The True King
3. Psalm 13 – How Long, O Lord?
4. Psalm 23 – The Shepherd Who Leads
5. Psalm 32 – The Joy of Forgiveness
6. Psalm 84 – Nearness to God
7. Psalm 96 – The Lord Who Reigns
8. Psalm 103 – The God Who Is Merciful
9. Psalm 145 – The Greatness of God
10. Psalm 150 – Let Everything Praise the Lord
As we move through these psalms, we’re following the natural flow of the Psalter itself - beginning with a call to choose the way of life and ending with unrestrained praise. Along the way, the Psalms will lead us through wonder and trust, longing and confession, belonging and mission. Read them slowly. Pray them honestly. And trust that, from Psalm 1 to Psalm 150, God will use his word to draw us again into praise.
Each psalm will only take a few minutes and has a specific focus. We encourage you to let the prompts be a guide to continue with your own prayers in and around the text and topic.
Don't feel bad if you have to slow down, speed up or take a break, however, you will get the most out of the time if it is done in one go.
This time is for you to commune with God, so take a deep breath, relax and follow the prompts. Let this scripture be an encouragement to you as you begin.

As you begin this day of prayer, come honestly before God knowing you do not walk this path perfectly. Fix your eyes on Jesus - the truly blessed man - who delighted fully in God’s word and walked the way of life for you. Come not to prove yourself, but to receive grace and ask God to reshape your heart.
PRAY…
Lord Jesus, You are the righteous one I could never be. You delighted perfectly in the will of the Father and walked the path of life in my place. Through Your life, death, and resurrection, I am forgiven, planted, and made alive. Shape my loves, steady my steps, and lead me in the way that leads to life.

Come to God without tidying your emotions or softening your questions. Notice where waiting has worn you down, where disappointment has lingered, or where hope feels thin. Bring these honestly before Jesus, who knows what it is to cry out in suffering - and who invites you to trust the Father even in the silence.
PRAY…
Lord Jesus, You know what it is to wait, to suffer, and to cry out to God from a place of pain. You entered our anguish fully, and You did not turn away from the Father even when relief did not come quickly. Meet me in my waiting. Help me speak honestly with You, and teach me to trust Your steadfast love even when answers feel delayed.

Praise does not begin with us going out, but with God coming near. Before we speak of his glory to the nations, remember the good news that has reached us - that God has acted to save, not merely to be admired. Let your prayers be shaped by the joy of salvation that has already been given, and allow that joy to overflow toward the world.
PRAY…
Lord Jesus, You reign over all the earth, not through domination but through self-giving love. You are worthy of praise in every place, and Your name deserves to be known among all peoples. Shape my heart to rejoice in Your reign and to long for others to know Your saving grace.

Prayer does not end with answers, but with worship. After confession, trust, longing, mission, and gratitude, the final word is praise - not because everything is resolved, but because God is worthy.
Come now with your whole self - heart, voice, body, and breath - and offer praise freely.
