Welcome
Welcome to our third Day of Prayer for 2025.
Before you read on, you are welcome to choose one of these instrumental playlists (Apple: Ambient / Piano or Spotify Ambient / Piano) to put on in the background while you read this page to help you focus on worshipping God through prayer.
For this prayer day, we are going to pray with the saints by tracing 7 biblical prayers to Jesus.
1. David's Prayer
2. Hannah's Prayer
3. Moses' Prayer
(Pause & Pray with the Psalmist)
4. Daniel's Prayer
5. Paul's Prayer
6. John's Prayer
7. Jesus' Prayer
Each prayer will only take a few minutes and has a specific focus. We encourage you to let the prompts be a guide to continue with your own prayers in and around the text and topic.
Don't feel bad if you have to slow down, speed up or take a break, however, you will get the most out of the time if it is done in one go.
This time is for you to commune with God, so take a deep breath, relax and follow the prompts. Let this scripture be an encouragement to you as you begin.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4: 6 - 7

CONSIDER…
David’s prayer is remarkable because it is not centred on his victories or needs but on God Himself. His deepest desire was to dwell in God’s presence, to gaze on His beauty, and to seek Him above all else. This teaches us that prayer begins not with what we want from God, but with delight in who He is.
PRAY…
Lord Jesus, You are the fulfilment of David’s longing. Where he desired the temple, You are the true temple - God’s presence with us. Through You I have access to the Father, and by Your Spirit my heart has become Your dwelling place. Lift my eyes to see Your beauty and glory, and to desire You above all else.

CONSIDER…
Hannah’s story began in anguish, but when God answered her prayer, her response was filled with thanksgiving and praise. She rejoiced not only in the gift of her son but in the holiness, salvation, and strength of God Himself. Her prayer shows us that gratitude begins not with our circumstances but with who God is and what He has done.
PRAY…
Lord Jesus, Hannah’s thanksgiving points me to You. She celebrated salvation through the son God gave her, but You are the greater Son through whom eternal salvation has come. You are holy and strong, the unshakable Rock who never fails. Teach me to rejoice in You before I see answers, and to anchor my joy in Your holiness and salvation.

3. Moses' Prayer
“But Moses implored the Lord his God and said, ‘O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? … Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people.’”
Exodus 32:11-14
Exodus 32:11-14
CONSIDER…
When Israel sinned by making the golden calf, Moses stood in the gap for them. He appealed to God’s saving acts, His promises, and His name among the nations. Moses’ prayer shows us what it means to intercede for others: pleading for mercy not because of their worthiness, but because of God’s covenant faithfulness.
PRAY…
Lord Jesus, You are the greater Moses, the true Intercessor. Moses begged God to turn away His wrath, but You bore that wrath on the cross so that mercy would be secured forever. By Your death and resurrection, You have brought me forgiveness and new life. Thank You that I can stand forgiven, not because of my righteousness, but because of Your finished work at Calvary. Now, risen and ascended, You continually pray for me at the Father’s side.

You are now halfway through the prayers. Many voices in Scripture cry out to God from many circumstances - especially in the Psalms. - Joy (Psalm 30): “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.” (Psalm 30:11)

4. Daniel's Prayer
“I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying, ‘O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules… O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations… For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.’”
Daniel 9:4-5,18-19
Daniel 9:4-5,18-19
CONSIDER…
Daniel prayed on behalf of his people, confessing their sins and acknowledging God’s justice. He did not make excuses or shift blame but admitted guilt openly. Yet even in confession, Daniel anchored his hope in God’s mercy and God’s concern for His name. His prayer shows us that true confession is both honest about sin and confident in God’s covenant love.
PRAY...
Lord Jesus, You are the answer to Daniel’s cry. Where Daniel pleaded for forgiveness, You purchased it with Your blood. Because of You, I can confess my sins freely, knowing that mercy has already been secured. Thank You that You hear, forgive, and act on behalf of Your people through the cross.

5. Paul's Prayer
“That according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:16-19
Ephesians 3:16-19
CONSIDER…
Paul’s prayer is not first about circumstances changing but about believers being strengthened inwardly. He longs for the church to be filled with the Spirit, rooted in love, and overwhelmed by the vastness of Christ’s love. His prayer shows us that the greatest need of every Christian is to know and experience the gospel more deeply.
PRAY…
Lord Jesus, You are the one who dwells in my heart by faith. Your love is deeper than my sin, wider than my failures, stronger than my doubts. At the cross You gave Yourself for me, and by Your Spirit You fill me with life. Root me in the gospel so that I never move beyond Your love but grow deeper into it every day. Make me, and Your whole church, living testimonies of the power and fullness of God revealed in Christ.

7. Jesus' Prayer
“And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, ‘Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.’”
Luke 22:41–42
“Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’”
Matthew 6:9–10

“Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’”
Matthew 6:9–10
CONSIDER…
In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed the ultimate prayer of surrender: not His will, but the Father’s will be done. He embraced the cross, drinking the cup of wrath so that we might drink the cup of mercy. Earlier, in teaching His disciples, He gave them the Lord’s Prayer - words that align our hearts with God’s name, kingdom, and will. Together, these prayers show us the heart of true prayer: surrender to the Father in trust, grounded in the gospel.
PRAY…
Lord Jesus, in the garden You surrendered to the Father’s will and chose the cross for me. You bore my sin, my shame, my death - so that I could be forgiven, reconciled, and raised to life. Through Your resurrection You have given me hope, and by Your Spirit You teach me to pray, “Our Father.” Today I surrender my life afresh to You: not my will, but Yours be done. Let Your kingdom come, let Your will be done, until the day You return and all things are made new.
